Policies
Music policy
What can be published on DONLU, how plays count towards DAMP earnings, and what happens when something breaks the rules. This policy applies to every artist, DJ, label and filmmaker who uploads, and works alongside our Terms of service and Privacy policy.
Last updated 9 October 2026
1. Upload only what you have the rights to
You can upload music, mixes, videos and films that you made yourself or have written permission to publish. That includes every part of a track: the beat, samples, features, covers and the artwork.
When you upload, you confirm that you hold these rights. If someone else owns part of the work, get their permission before you publish.
You keep ownership
Your work stays yours. By uploading, you give DONLU permission to stream it, show its artwork and title, and feature it on DONLU's website, apps, CarPlay and DONLU's own social channels for as long as it is on the platform. You can remove a track at any time, and new plays stop straight away.
2. What isn't allowed
- Music, artwork or video you don't have the rights to.
- Hate speech, or content that encourages violence against people because of who they are.
- Any sexual content involving minors. We remove it and report it.
- Content that harasses a real person or shares their private details.
- Pretending to be another artist, or uploading under someone else's name.
- Misleading titles, artists or tags used to appear in searches for other people's music.
- Uploads made to earn rather than to be heard, such as silence, noise, the same track uploaded many times, or very short clips.
Strong language in lyrics is allowed. Artwork must not show nudity or graphic violence.
3. DJ mixes
Mixes must be at least 5 minutes long and must list every track in the tracklist, with the original artists tagged. Each counted play of a mix pays the DJ 60% of the creator share and the tagged artists 40%, split by how long their music plays.
Mixes without a tracklist can be paused until one is added, because the tagged artists can't be paid without it.
4. How plays count for DAMP
A play counts when a real listener chooses to play your music. To keep DAMP fair for every artist:
- Plays from your own account never earn.
- Each listener counts up to 5 times per track per day. Further plays that day are recorded but don't earn.
- Plays from bots, scripts, paid streaming services, or anyone looping music on your behalf don't count.
DONLU's Stream Watch reviews unusual listening every day. While a pattern is being checked, earnings from the plays involved can be held. Your DAMP Studio shows exactly how many plays were counted and how many weren't, and why.
5. Getting paid
- DAMP pays a published rate per counted play: N$0.0012 on the free plan and N$0.0027 on Artist Pro, with a 90/10 creator split.
- You can withdraw once your balance reaches N$1,000 on the free plan, or N$500 on Artist Pro.
- We verify your ID before your first payout.
- Payouts are made in Namibian dollars by EFT or PayPal, within 7 working days of approval.
- Labels never take a cut of an artist's DAMP earnings.
6. Copyright complaints
If your work is on DONLU without your permission, contact us with:
- a link to the track, mix, video or film,
- what you own and how you can show it, such as a release, a registration or a contract,
- your name and the best way to reach you.
We can take the content down while we look into it, and we let the uploader know so they can respond. Accounts that upload other people's work again and again are closed.
7. If the rules are broken
Depending on what happened, we may remove content, hold or reverse earnings that came from plays that broke these rules, pause uploads, or close the account. We tell you what we did and why, and you can reply to ask us to look again.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. For bigger changes we also email everyone who uploads to DONLU.
