Questions

Frequently asked

Everything filmmakers ask before submitting their first film.

Do I need to be Namibian to submit a film? +
No. DONLU Cinema accepts films from filmmakers across Africa and beyond. The platform is built to spotlight African stories, but your nationality is not a barrier. Films in any language are welcome provided the submission metadata is in English.
How long does review take? +
Cinema Studio plans receive a standard review within 5 business days. Cinema Filmmaker plans receive priority review within 48 hours. You will be contacted at the email address you submitted with the outcome.
What counts as a qualifying view? +
A qualifying view is any continuous watch session of 60 seconds or more. Sessions that end before 60 seconds do not generate earnings. This threshold ensures the platform rewards genuine audience engagement.
When and how do I get paid? +
Earnings accumulate in your DONLU wallet. Once your balance reaches N$500, you can request a withdrawal through your filmmaker dashboard. Payments are processed in Namibian Dollars via bank transfer.
Can I submit a short film or series? +
Short films are accepted on Cinema Studio plans provided they meet the technical requirements. Series and episode support is available exclusively on the Cinema Filmmaker plan. Each episode is submitted and reviewed individually.
Do I keep the rights to my film? +
Yes. Submitting to DONLU Cinema does not transfer ownership or exclusive rights. You retain full copyright. DONLU holds a non-exclusive licence to stream your film on the platform for the duration of your active subscription.
